Walmart (WMT) — Overview
Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) is the world’s largest retailer by revenue, operating over 10,500 stores under various banners in 19 countries. Q1 FY2026 results (reported May 21, 2026) showed adjusted EPS of $0.61 beating the $0.58 consensus by 5.74%, while revenue of $163.98 billion came in just slightly below estimates but grew 1.5% year-over-year. The most important numbers were not in the headline: global eCommerce surged 22%, global advertising grew 50% (driven by Walmart Connect and VIZIO integration), and membership income rose 14.8% — all three of Walmart’s highest-margin revenue streams accelerating simultaneously. The grocery inflation headwind from egg prices added roughly 150 basis points but helped drive traffic from higher-income consumers trading down from premium grocers. Walmart has transformed from a pure-play retailer into an advertising, logistics, and data business with a retail distribution network attached.
